INTRODUCING ESIAS BOSCH

South African artist Esias Bosch (1923 – 2010) is often referred to as the doyen of South African creative ceramics and a  master of clay and colour. This web presence serves to showcase not only his oeuvre as distinguished master potter, but also features art he produced in later years — oil paintings and drawings of Lowveld trees.  Click here to read more about Bosch.

PROGRESSION OF THE BAOBAB TRIPTYCH

A slideshow illustrates the progression of the largest of Bosch’s ‘tree portraits’, an enormous Baobab on gesso, 3,65 x 2,3 m. In the first slide Bosch is faced with three large gesso panels, prepared by him, and the viewer is taken on a visual journey until the completion of the imposing work.
